Singapore Getting There

Singapore's strategic location in Asia makes it an ideal international hub for those traveling in and out of Asia. It is also an ideal stopover for travelers visiting multi-destinations within Asia.
 

Getting There by Air

Many international airlines fly to Singapore. A London-Singapore flight would take about 14 hours, while a New York-Singapore flight is about 24 hours.
 

Getting There by Regional Carriers

Silk Air: A Singaporean airline which flies to Yangon, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and many cities in Indonesia.

Air Asia: A Malaysian low-cost carrier which flies between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Jet Star Asia: A Singapore low-cost carrier

Valuair:  Flies mainly from Indonesian cities like Bali, as well as Hong Kong and Manila.

Tiger Airways: Destinations include Chiang Mai, Phuket, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Macau and Manila.

 

Getting There by Train

Trains run from Singapore and to Malaysia desinations like Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur and Malacca, and travels all the way to Bangkok, Thailand.  You can choose from standard economy class, to dining cars, to trains with overnight sleepers. The Eastern and Oriental Express is a luxurious train service travelling connecting Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Getting There by Road

There are two causeways linking Singapore to mainland Asia (via Johor Bahru, Malaysia); one is the Woodlands Checkpoint and the others is the Tuas Checkpoint. Upon entry into Singapore,  foreign motorist are required to pay a Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) and a toll charge at the checkpoint, using an electronic smartcard ( Autopass Card) to pay. The card can be purchased at checkpoint, after you have shown the officer a valid road tax disc and an insurance certificate.
 
Buses and coaches ply between Singapore, Johor Bahru in Malaysia and beyond.
